Former tween superstar Miley Cyrus has made a total transformation from Disney’s sweetheart Hannah Montana character to grown-up Cyrus who has a wild streak. The change has many people wondering if she is going down the same route as her peers Amanda Bynes and Lindsay Lohan, but Cyrus is sticking to her reasoning… which is that she is growing up!

First signs of change in her lifestyle appeared when Cyrus released her hit single ‘Can’t Be Tamed’. There was a change in Cyrus she was singing about doing grown up things like going clubbing and swinging her hips. This was nothing like her usual Hannah Montana songs. The song was catchy but the music video was seen as provocative and the lyrics racy:

“Have to get my way, yep 24 hours a day 'cause I'm hot like that, every guy, everywhere. Juast gives me mad attention, like I'm under inspection. I always get a ten 'cause I'm built like that.”

It is obvious that she wants to shed her Disney persona. Soon after her engagement to Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth, Cyrus decided to cut off her gorgeous locks and dye her hair platinum blonde.

Not Melting Down, Growing Up

Miley Cyrus Kills Hannah Montana.

The haircut was super-short very edgy and raised a lot of questions. Had she shaved her hair in honour of cancer patients? Some people compared her to Britney Spears, who went through similar ‘hair changes’ a couple of years ago. But since everybody seemed to believe that they had a say in her life, fans got upset and Cyrus kindly responded to them via twitter: “If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all. My hair is attached to my head no one else’s and it’s going ‘bye bye’ :)”

Cyrus released a UK number Hit in June 2013 entitled ‘We Can’t Stop’. The video displays her more provocative side and received over 100 million hits on YouTube. The video has received negative reviews despite the song becoming a chart-topper and containing encouraging lyrics like ‘Only God can judge us’.

Cyrus has also changed genre and is allowing hip-hop to influence her music. She just released a new song titled ‘We can’t stop’ and she is seen twerking in the video. The song, which was initially written for Rihanna (who was too busy with her world tour to record it), was given to Cyrus and she made a massive success out of it. It seems the star has also started taking tips out of Rihanna’s wardrobe.

Some have found Cyrus’ new appearance a breath of fresh air and ‘high time she moved on’ from her Disney past. Jay Z, the hip-hop mogul, defended the Party in the USA star: “People want her to be something and she’s like, ‘I’m not that…You want me to be six years old forever?’ That must be frustrating and this is her reaction to it.” He also mentioned that there is plenty of room on the roster if Cyrus ever considered being managed by his hip-hop brand Roc Nation.

I think that if Jay-Z signed Cyrus up, the two of them would have plenty more Billboard number Ones.
