Hi!

What a journey this has been for the GAS crew and me.

I have never experienced as many emotions at one time as I have these past few days leading up to the inauguration of our magazine.

Anyway, back to the main topic… GAS is a magazine for YOU. We want YOU to GAS (stir things up) about the world around you and to encourage you to stand up for anything and everything you believe in… or just enjoy. We have some amazing revelations inside that are worth the time to care about.

GAS Magazine started off as an assignment that I think everyone was amped about from the beginning. We knew that we were going to work hard and have late nights in PC lab but now looking at the final product – it was all worth it!

I am proud of each and every individual who has helped shape this magazine and make it what it is. As I said before: I had fun but I also think I’ve picked up a grey hair or two.

This is the boring moment that you would normally skip but... ahem… I’d like to thank Brian Akerman for ALL his hard work and refusal to sleep, Uhuru Plaatjies for being a kick-ass photo editor, Matthew Alexander for being the first to help, Chanté Petersen for giving me a push whenever I needed one, Nathan Roets for encouraging me through the darkest of hours, Madré Swart for stepping in at the death and Niki van den Heever for her constant grace under fire.

Lastly, I’d like to thank all my first-year journalism classmates. We thought we’d just be YouTubing and Facebooking ’til the end of the year, but things got real fast and all our hard work pulled us through.

This issue is only the beginning and I know that our next issue will be bigger and better! So sit back and enjoy.

Hugs :)
